Christ In The Daily Meal - Norman Fox, 1898
With the economy the way it is and gas prices at almost $5.00, its nice to come across a great book that is...free! Almost 100 years old now, Christ In The Meal demystifies the manner in which the Lord's table and the "breaking of bread" was and is to be taken. Fox does a great job of informing us of the cultural NT context and its connection to OT Passover celebration. "The fact that the disciples had "favor with all people" shows that they did not shock their fellow Israelites by abandoning their ancestral observances".
If you want to take a good look at what this sacrament could & should look like today, download this .pdf and discover the treasures I found in it. "Their eating of bread in remembrance of the Master did not take the place of their Passover supper but was observed in addition to, parallel with and independent of the same".
By the way, this is another one of those "old books" that my beloved Maria Toro found for me in those Westchester County tag sales. She hasn't picked a bad one yet. Enjoy! |

Jeremy Del Rio - Author, Consultant, Speaker
A great blog site from one of the most exciting young minds in the kingdom. Jeremy Del Rio is a much respected leader in the community of faith with a deep passion for the urban context and I am honored to call him friend. We both come from a rich heritage of ministers (his grandfather chauffeured my parents on the their wedding day) so we find much comfort in each other's presence and fellowship. I trust him with family, friends and church. You will find his blog inspiring, thought-provoking, and even rattling as he presses those who read it into authenticity (a major word for us at Crossroads)

Brian Blade Fellowship Band - "Season Of Changes"
Music that ministers to the soul does not have to have words. If it does, then pick up every Andrae Crouch or Steve Green CD and you'll see what words bring me to my knees. But if we're allowed to venture outside to the wordless realm, pick up Brian Blade Fellowship Band's Season of Changes. The music is amazing and I just caught these guys at the Village Vangaurd..wow! It only makes sense that a few band members are believers...you could just tell. They call it anointing. Blade is a world class drummer but his songwriting is what really compels me to listen to this record over and over again.
Those who know me know my love for Pat Metheny and the Yellowjackets. But Blade's Fellowship Band is fast becoming my favorite. Get it on Amazon.
